re: [RP] A Parting of the Ways

[Dharkoth summons Solivar to meet in the depths of Atal’Hakkar, where few living or unliving things walk...]

Dharkoth says: I am surprised to see you without your shadow

Solivar says: ...It is good to see you again, my friend.
Solivar shakes his head tiredly.

Dharkoth says: I will make this quick
Dharkoth says: I was brought to Baranthore a few nights ago.

Solivar says: She only calls on me when it suits her whims to do so. You know that as well as --
Solivar catches his breath.
Solivar says: Brought? Brought how?

Dharkoth says: The interesting thing, was it was by one of the Old ones. I do not k now which one, but I was there to plant a seed
Dharkoth says: yes and like the blind fool you jump for her

Solivar says: Or to have a seed planted. Dharkoth -- what *happened*?

Dharkoth says: No, I was there to open his eyes some
Dharkoth says: Baranthore is still inside of him and now has many doubts
Dharkoth says: His masters were not happy with me to say the least
Dharkoth says: I told him of Neshala
Dharkoth says: I told him of Andinthe
Dharkoth says: I told him of what these pathetic old ones were trying
Dharkoth says: I ask him why I was brought to him
Dharkoth says: he could not answer me
Dharkoth says: he is in there

Solivar says: ...His masters did not summon you. But if not they...who? And to what purpose?

Dharkoth says: one of the others is the only thing I can figure at this point

Solivar says: It is...good to know that there is something in him that can be saved yet. I had feared that he might be beyond hope.

Dharkoth says: some are

Solivar says: I have spoken to Andinthe about this matter as well...She told me, when I asked her of it, that she had given Neshala to the care of the dragons at Wyrmrest temple.

Dharkoth says: I have been keeping an eye on some of the Argent Dawn in the hopes of gleaning some information on her, but have not yet
Dharkoth says: She told me that she gave her to the Argent Dawn
Dharkoth says: once more she plays

Solivar says: I...was going to travel to Wrymrest, but recent events prevented my journey. Perhaps. Perhaps her own memories are not as clear as they could be.

Dharkoth says: I should of killed her when I had the chance
Dharkoth says: and may yet
Dharkoth says: I have said before that not all of the old ones wish their prison destroyed, for that would also mean their destruction

Solivar says: Dharkoth...Is the vengeance you could take against her worth the price your soul would pay for it?

Dharkoth says: Solivar what do you know of my soul?

Solivar says: I know that hatred is a poison that corrodes all it touches.

Dharkoth says: Tell me you blind fool, Did she torture you? Did she try to break you? Did she brand you?

Solivar says: No. Someone else did that to me, Dharkoth.

Dharkoth says: IS there person still alive? IS that person still taunting you every chance they get?

Solivar says: And when the time came for me to choose whether I would destroy him or forgive him, I chose forgiveness.
Solivar 's eyes narrow a fraction.

Dharkoth says: well that is you
Dharkoth says: you do not have that person taunting you every chance they have

Solivar says: Do I not?

Dharkoth says: no you do not

Solivar says: If you insist, *my king.*

Dharkoth says: if you are speaking of the Lich King no you do not!
Dharkoth says: very well Mercy, if you insist on playing
Dharkoth says: I have no time for you or this
Dharkoth says: I have told you about Baranthore

Solivar says: I am not playing. I am making a suggestion, in earnestness, out of concern for both of you.
Solivar says: *She* is not what she once was. Neither are you.

Dharkoth says: keep your suggestions
Dharkoth says: She is no different
Dharkoth says: YOU were not there
Dharkoth says: I was

Solivar says: Have you not all suffered enough? Lost enough? Can you see no purpose in seeking another way?

Dharkoth says: Tell that to her
Dharkoth says: I could of killed her many times

Solivar says: I have spoken with her, Dharkoth.

Dharkoth says: but I knew she was playing a spy long before anyone else did
Dharkoth says: and you got nothing from her
Dharkoth says: I could of given her to the Fist
Dharkoth says: I could of betrayed her
Dharkoth says: I could of destroyed her, but I did not

Solivar says: She means you no ill. I believe her when she says that. She has no reason to lie.

Dharkoth says: not like she tried to
Dharkoth says: you are a fool

Solivar says: So I am told. Repeatedly.

Dharkoth says: she means me no ill will
Dharkoth says: then why does she taunt me and tries to provoke me all the time?

Solivar says: You taunt and provoke *each other,* Dharkoth.

Dharkoth says: and I suppose you believe she did nothing to me
Dharkoth says: I DO NOT!
Dharkoth says: She is the one who goes at me.
Dharkoth says: always siding with her
Dharkoth says: I thought you were my friend
Dharkoth says: i thought you were my brother
Dharkoth says: I thought you were someone I could trust

Solivar says: I never said that. I *know* she did you harm, Dharkoth. I am asking you to give both of you the chance to move beyond that darkness.

Dharkoth says: we both know how you showed me what you were

Solivar says: Dharkoth, I am your friend and your brother, and if with my life or my death I could protect you, you know that I would give both gladly.

Dharkoth says: one time I did
Dharkoth says: now that you have sided with her and Mercy is closer... No

Solivar says: I am not on her side, you fool!

Dharkoth says: then why did you side with her at Light hope? Why is it when I see you she is with you?

Solivar says: I do not deny that I feel...kinship with her. I cannot *help* feeling it. She is much as I was once.

Dharkoth says: as I said
Dharkoth says: feel your kinship with MY torturer and tormentor
Dharkoth says: but do not expect me to ever trust you again, as i did

Solivar says: ....You may refuse to trust me, if that is what you wish. But I trust you, and I will always. And whatever help and protection I may offer you is yours, whether you want it or not.

Dharkoth says: I do not want it
Dharkoth says: you are tainted in many ways now, by her and by what Baranthore has done to you
Dharkoth says: at one time, you would of sided with me and try to protect me, but that time changed

Solivar says: Perhaps I am. But my devotion to you is not, of that you may be certain, if you believe nothing else.

Dharkoth says: now you see a kinship in someone who tortured me
Dharkoth says: devotion?
Dharkoth says: what you have done is devotion to me?

Solivar says: I see kinship in someone who was also tormented and broken, who was torn from her place in the Light and twisted to another's purpose. Yes, Dharkoth, I do feel kinship with that.

Dharkoth says: She was not tormented or broken
Dharkoth says: nor was she torn from her place in the light
Dharkoth says: she went willingly
Dharkoth says: to destroy him
Dharkoth says: and she still is trying

Solivar says: No...she is not.

Dharkoth says: I told you she did the one thing that would hurt me cause she could not break me and she did
Dharkoth says: isn't she?

Solivar says: She is seeking a new purpose, Dharkoth, and to move beyond what she has become.

Dharkoth says: spoken like the good kinsman
Dharkoth says: why did she not tell you of Neshala from the start?
Dharkoth says: why did she show up at Lights Hope as she did ?
Dharkoth says: why did she go at me every chance she gets?

Solivar says: Spoken like someone who has walked that path as well, Dharkoth.

Dharkoth says: why did she tell me that her duty was not yet done and that she would finish what she started when she tried to destroy me?
Dharkoth says: just answer

Solivar says: I am not saying she is as pleasant as a bouquet of fresh spring flowers. And she has had as little reason to trust as we have. Because when I she spoke those words she meant them. I do not think she means them any longer.

Dharkoth says: just as she did not plan to drive a wedge between us to hurt me
Dharkoth says: knowing it was the only way she could get at me
Dharkoth says: not her
Dharkoth says: she is misunderstood and your kinsman

Solivar says: I do not think that was her plan, no. What has she done since then to act on such a scheme?

Dharkoth says: I have not given her the chance to do anything
Dharkoth says: I seen her last with you and have not since for once again I have went into hiding

Solivar says: Perhaps there was no chance to allow. Have you considered that? Has it crossed your mind that I would not *allow* her to harm you, even if it were?

Dharkoth laughs
Dharkoth says: you are nothing, but a blind fool

Solivar says: My sympathy for her outweighs nothing, Dharkoth. I promise you that.

Dharkoth says: you could not stop her even if you wanted to, for you see nothing, but a kindred spirit and hopes she is good inside
Dharkoth says: and when she has done what she wants you will still look at her with sympathy and forgiveness

Solivar says: Hope does not blind me, Dharkoth.
Solivar says: It does not make me a fool.

Dharkoth says: oh, then what did?

Solivar says: Dharkoth...please. We are arguing in circles.

Dharkoth says: no
Dharkoth says: I have done what I needed to do and that was tell you of my vision

Solivar says: Yes...you have. And I fear I must...tell you something, as well.

Dharkoth says: You have told me of your kinship to my torturer, which is more pain to hear and feel. so it is time for you to leave now
Dharkoth says: do not look for me

Solivar says: I will not, if that is what you wish.

Dharkoth says: NO, it is what you have made it
Dharkoth says: you and your kinship with my torturer

Solivar says: Dharkoth -- very well. The fault is mine. I will claim it.

Dharkoth says: the fault is yours and her, for she knew you were a weak fool and could be used
Dharkoth says: she knew she could only hurt me by turning you to her side and you went

Solivar says: Hate me all you wish. But know this: I love you as much as I ever have, and there is no side I stand at but yours. I am not her champion or her protector.

Dharkoth says: nor are you mine
Dharkoth says: you say you love me and stand by me, but where do you find you?
Dharkoth says: calling her a kinsman
Dharkoth says: at her side

Solivar says: Dharkoth -- I have meant what I said. I cannot be more clear, or more honest.

Dharkoth says: words Solivar only words, when you actions tell me otherwise
Dharkoth says: I trusted you with my life once
Dharkoth says: I did everything in my power to keep you safe, for you meant something to me
Dharkoth says: but you turned you back on me and that blindly

Solivar says: If I have given you pain, I am sorry for it. I cannot unmake the past. I can only offer you my hand.
Solivar says: And ask for your forgiveness, if you one day wish to offer it.

Dharkoth says: I do not want the hand of her kinsman, my torturer
Dharkoth says: the hand I want is the hand of the person who tried to help me all those years ago, when I first came here

Solivar says: I am still that man, Dharkoth.

Dharkoth says: no
Dharkoth says: that man would of never sided with my torturer
Dharkoth says: that man would of never called my torturer kinsman
Dharkoth says: that man would of never allowed my torturer to torment me like she does

Solivar 's eyes squeeze closed, a flicker of pain crossing his face, there and gone again.

Dharkoth says: for 3 years i stayed away to protect you all
Dharkoth says: now I hide, for there is nothing left for me
Dharkoth says: everything that was important for me is no more

Solivar says: Dharkoth -- we are your family. Your place is here, among us, in the shelter of our brotherhood.

Dharkoth says: what brotherhood?
Dharkoth says: with your kinsman?
Dharkoth says: I thought you were, but then you became her kinsman and sided with her over me
Dharkoth says: you sided with my torturer

Solivar says: She is not one of us. She has no desire to be. And if it is my presence that gives you pain, that robs you of the comfort you would have among us...perhaps it is I who should go.

Dharkoth says: we both know that can't happen, for the same reason I went to the Baron instead of you

Solivar says: You still have a place here if you choose to claim it.

Dharkoth says: there is no place for me now
Dharkoth says: It comes full circle
Dharkoth says: I had no place, then I thought I did, but then I found out I did not

Solivar says: Ask the others before you make that decision.

Dharkoth says: the others do not matter
Dharkoth says: never have

Solivar says: Come to Silvermoon. We are mourning Meton there. Come and be with us again, and see how much of a place you have there, and will always have.

Dharkoth looks at Solivar

Solivar says: They do matter, and you matter to them, more than you have allowed yourself to believe.

Dharkoth says: what do you mean?
Dharkoth says: what happened to Meton?

Solivar says: He is...gone.
Solivar 's voice is a bare whisper, raw with grief.
Solivar says: Mortally wounded in battle, with an enemy who broke the magic that sustained him.

Dharkoth looks down at the ground and for a moment wobbles

Solivar reaches out and catches Dharkoth's shoulder, gently.

Dharkoth says: then he died how he wanted to, more than some of us can say

Solivar says: Yes. He was offensively cheerful about it.

Dharkoth moves his shoulder from your touch

Solivar allows his hand to fall back to his side without a struggle.

Dharkoth says: that is Meton and i am happy for him, as well as the peace he must of found
Dharkoth says: I also envy him that
Dharkoth says: as for me being there I can not
Dharkoth says: expecailly there right now

Solivar says: ....Dharkoth. Please.

Dharkoth says: do you wish me taken? Is that part of her plan now?

Solivar 's voice trembles slightly.
Solivar says: ...I...cannot do this without you.

Dharkoth says: you have your kinsman now
Dharkoth says: you chose her
Dharkoth says: as I said to you on the bridge. Do not make my sacrifice in vain

Solivar says: ....You are wrong, Dharkoth. I do not have her, and she does not have me.

Dharkoth says: one day you open your clouded eyes as Baranthore has and you will see clearer

Solivar says: I cannot make you believe that.

Dharkoth says: then why call her kinsman? Why side with her?
Dharkoth says: over me
Dharkoth says: I trusted you and sacrificed so much for you
Dharkoth says: for you were important and needed by more than me

Solivar says: Because she deserves the same chance that we were given: to rebuild her life from the wreckage of what was made of it. That is all I think she deserves, Dharkoth.

Dharkoth says: then go give her that
Dharkoth says: but I will not
Dharkoth says: I want nothing to do with her or anyone who does, for I am not blind like you

Solivar says: I told Meton this once, Dharkoth, and he listened to me.
Solivar says: You cannot hold so much hatred and rage inside yourself forever. It will devour you from within.
Solivar says: It will poison your heart and blacken your soul. I did not want that for him, and I do not want it for you.
Solivar says: Please. If not for me, then for yourself. *Let it go.*

[Solivar opens a Gate to Silvermoon and departs, sick at heart.]
