From the above-linked article:

In the Plaguelands and other parts of the world that the Alliance and Horde alike have abandoned, the Argent Dawn stands as a last shining bastion of hope against the Scourge, the Burning Legion and other threats. Contrary to what one might expect, the Argent Dawn rarely defends any given location; rather it remains mobile, attempting to strike where it is least expected. This is clearly a strong contrast to the more straightforward Knights of the Silver Hand.

The knights and freedom fighters of the Argent Dawn rely on hit and run tactics, using their magic and knowledge of the terrain to compensate for the disadvantage of their small numbers. Each group is assigned an officer, who chooses when to engage enemies in combat or avoid them; if there is any major risk to the group, the officer avoids the conflict unless there is an impending threat that must be stopped. The Argent Dawn is unwilling to risk even a single member if it can be avoided, for every sword lost could be another to join the Scourge. The Argent Dawn is not a group of cowards; far from it. They willingly risk their lives each day.

Light's Promise is one such small Argent Dawn unit, among the fire-forged first to cast fully cast aside differences in both politics and species and remain together after the mission that originally brought them together was complete and the very first to be formally commissioned as a mobile hospital unit. Their original charge was to patrol both the Eastern and Western Plaguelands offering medical assistance, protection, and general guidance to travelers passing through the region, particularly to those inexperienced with the dangers resident in fallen Lordaeron. Light's Promise was among the Argent Dawn units whose observations of Scourge activity and interception of internal intelligence communications intended for the Ebon Blade that led to the Dawn's realization that the Scourge was planning a massive, multi-pronged offensive against both Azeroth and Kalimdor. Deployed to Kalimdor to aid in the defense of Orgrimmar against both the outbreak of the Second Plague of Undeath and the subsequent full-scale Scourge invasion, Light's Promise suffered heavy casualties, losing more than three-quarters of their combat complement and half their healers before the Scourge assault on the city was finally halted and eventually repulsed. Light's Promise was temporarily relieved of active duty shortly afterwards in order to allow it time to reconstitute its numbers and, following aggressive recruitment among the Horde in Orgrimmar, this was duly accomplished, and the unit was recommissioned. Deployed to Northrend in a combat-support capacity for the Argent Crusade, they have been progressing steadily northward and expect to be among the vanguard units sent into Icecrown once the final assault on the Lich King's citadel begins.

The members of Light's Promise wear the black and silver tabard of the Argent Crusade, preferring their original colors for practical as well as sentimental reasons: black doesn't become bloodstained as easily. Due to their nature as a healer-heavy support unit, they also have no true companion/sibling organization among the Ebon Blade, though a group of five powerful death knights calling themselves the Highlord's Hand has begun shadowing them in their progress through Northrend's active war-zones, lending aid of a skullbreaking nature when that aid seems required. The commander of the Hand claims that he is giving this aid to repay a debt, though he will not say to whom.

The members of Light's Promise include, but are not limited to:

Captain Krivulka Stonefist of the Warsong Clan: The commander of Light's Promise from its inception, a canny and experienced orcish warrior-woman, veteran of the First, Second, and Third Wars. Answering the Warchief's call for volunteers to return to the East, she has opted to spend her twilight years fighting in the struggle against the enemies of all life, making restitution for her own part in the Old Horde's crimes against the draenei and violence against the humans. Only her comrades in arms are permitted to call her 'Greatmother.'

Lieutenant Keldris Pellegrin: The present second-in-command of Light's Promise, a paladin of the Silver Hand, among the last to be elevated before the fall of Lordaeron, and a student of former Highlord Alexandros Mograine, whose aggressiveness most certainly rubbed off on him. Regularly straddles the fine line between absolutely fearless and suicidally reckless in the execution of his duties, which he pursues without favor for faction of species. Breaks the noses and jaws of people who irritate him with complete impartiality; never fails to stun them further by actually being a healer on top of it all. Critically injured during the Scourge siege of Orgrimmar, he has still not fully recovered, much to his annoyance.

Ophila Ravenstadt: A Forsaken priestess, the most skilled alchemist in Light's Promise and officer in charge of supplying the unit's medicinal needs. Stern, upright, and completely devoid of nonsense. Does not suffer fools gladly; considers the world to be unacceptably oversupplied with the same. Spends the majority of her free time engaged in complex and on-going philosophical arguments with Catlali and Skathan, lecturing Keldris, and mother-henning everyone who will sit still long enough permit it.

Catlali Mooncaller of the Zandalar Tribe: A trollish shaman of the oldest tribe of his people, cultured, wise, and highly educated. Left home at a young age to wander the world, seeking answers to his questions, and his curiosity, among other cultures and not simply his own. A vision he had while traveling among the Amani led him to leave Zul'Aman and seek a place among the Argent Dawn, where he was accepted warily at first; he has since proved his worth, and considers himself to have found what he was seeking -- a home among the true kin of his spirit.

Skathan Windspeaker of the Wildhammer Clan: The youngest and least-tried of the unit's healers, a shaman of the gryphon-riding hill dwarves. A dreamy mystic, he does not precisely put the 'wild' in Windhammer. His bedside manner could also use some work, as he isn't always clear about which voices belong to people with bodies and which voices belong to the wind-spirits that constantly attend him. Will likely get in trouble trying to chat with a young wyvern or possibly a frostwrym whelp one day soon.

Mierin Clearbrook: The surviving half of the unit's former sister/brother priestess/druid team; her brother, Bikona, was killed during the siege of Orgrimmar. A priestess of Elune, she has found no comfort for the bitterness of her grief in the teachings of her goddess but refused an offer of compassionate leave, choosing instead to remain with Light's Promise to the bitter end. Her mental state is an issue of endless concern for her comrades, who fear that the death of her only remaining family so close on the heels of the loss of immortality may have broken her will to live and that she is seeking her death in Northrend.

Callanastrasz/Callan: A representative of the Red Dragonflight who requested leave to join Light's Promise shortly after the unit's arrival in Northrend. A highly skilled warrior-mage, he has proved his value in more than one tight spot, though he is not wholly trusted yet; some suspect he possesses ulterior motives in joining the mission, suspicions he does not deign to acknowledge. Quiet and somewhat standoffish, he generally chooses to appear as a high elf.

Detailed character bios to follow.
